June 2009 – Graduation
| The school year ended with two of Marla’s House of Hope Students graduating from Primary School and all of the other Children except one moved on to their next grade. This is such a Blessing since most of the Children come to the Home academically behind their peers and have a difficult time keeping up. Congratulations are in order for all of MHOH Children!! |

APRIL 2009 – “Facelift” for Marla’ House of Hope
Twenty of God’s Children, being children, can put “stress” on a building…but God showed how loving He is by bringing three totally unrelated generous Teams together to give our Home a much needed painting – both outside and inside!
Through the joint efforts of the Presbyterian Home for Children of Amarillo, Texas lead by Team Leader Dick Doyle; Orange Lutheran High School Missions of Orange, California lead by Team Leader Mark Maietta; and The Assembly Church of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma lead by Youth Pastor Joseph Kellogg, Marla’s House of Hope got a “Facelift”.
The Home is so much brighter and cheerful as a result of the fantastic collective efforts of these Teams. All of MHOH Children love the “new look” and are very grateful for all of the collective hard work.
THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US AT MARLA’S HOUSE OF HOPE!

APRIL 2009 – “What Matters” Fund Raiser for the Home
On April 25, 2009, once again, God poured out His Blessing when Marla’s House of Hope held the “What Matters” Fund Raiser for the Home. The Fund Raiser entailed a five-course dinner donated and prepared by acclaimed Chefs – Executive Chef Rob Pronk, Chef Karim Mejia, and Chef Francisco Cano – along with a live auction of wonderful items donated by caring businesses, organizations, and individuals.
An outstanding meal was enjoyed by all attendees and a great time was had during the live auction conducted by famous auctioneers Bill Butcher and Julian Sherrard.
The funds raised during this Fund Raiser were desperately needed to continue the operation of the Home, and God provided for His Children!

February 2009 – Donation received from Social Security Board
Marla’s House of Hope is Blessed!
February 25 Press Release:

| | Dr. Ramon Figueroa of SSB delivers cheque to Marla's Chairperson Diana Shaw | “The Social Security Board this week gave a donation of $18,000 to Marla's House of Hope in Belmopan.
The money was raised at the Board’s annual Ride Across Belize, a staff initiative that raises money for organizations that contribute to the social welfare of the Belizean community. This sum complements other contributions made by Belize Natural Energy and in-kind-donation from Mr. Ray Cattouse.
Marla's House of Hope is a refuge for abused and neglected children. It currently is home to 17 children of varying ages, referred to the Home by the Ministry of Human Development. The money donated by the Board will be used to build a new storage facility at the site. Because of limited storage space Marla's House of Hope is constrained to buy only in small quantities. Bulk buying is expected to stretch the institutions dollars and improve the bottom line.
The Social Security Board says that by this donation it recognizes the work that Marla's House of Hope has done for the children of Belize. “Supporting community work such as these further demonstrates the SSB’s commitment to care for the health of the Belizean society”. The Social Security Board especially wants to thank the business community and individuals who contributed to the 2008 Ride Across Belize, without whom the donation would not have been possible.”

February 2009 – New Basketball/Volleyball Court
His Opportunities Mission Team from Kingsport, Tennessee made a return visit to Marla’s House of Hope to build a much needed basketball/volleyball court. There is now a good reason to “get out of the house” and enjoy the God’s wonderful outdoors. And the Children have taken advantage of this new addition to the Home and have had many “tournaments” and just good old one-on-one games. All of the Children say a great big “Thank You!” to the caring folks from Tennessee! |

There were a few cavities to fill, but in general, the Dentist reported that the Children are taking good care of their teeth. The Children want to say a great big "THANK YOU!" to the Fisher's of Men!
